About Heidi French

Heidi was our first German Shepherd Dog and foundation female. We desired a quality dog with a respectable pedigree and purchased Heidi by reserving her before her birth. Heidi was trained as our protector, guardian, watch dog and family pet.

Later we were asked to breed our Heidi and arranged a breeding with Champion Winsome's Rocky Bearboa II. Here is their litter pedigree. Winsome's Kennel is owned by Frank and Kris Fasano. They have a wealth of experience and years of service in the German Shepherd Breed and the German Shepherd Dog Club of America. They are among Iowa's most successful German Shepherd Kennels and have bred many successful Show Dogs. Heidi whelped one litter of puppies which is pictured here.

We realized that this breeding decision would likely mean that our Heidi would not finish her Conformation Championship, but we knew there would be future progeny from her that would. That breeding resulted in a litter of 4 puppies, two dogs that later proved themselves to be of breeding quality - Karma Carmella and Roxy Delisi. We hadn't planned on breeding any more until learning about the SEAL Dog Foundation. With Heidi's daughter Karma, we resolved to be quality breeders. Since that first breeding of our Heidi, we have learned, grown and transformed ourselves into Reputable Hobby Breeders. Our Heidi was a solid, quality foundation female to start our breeding program.

When our youngest son started dating his future wife, she fell in love with our Heidi. Heidi doesn't usually make friends easily, but Heidi befriended her and took to her immediately. Heidi at her request even lived with them for a while. To this day, his wife considered Heidi her dog!

Our Heidi passed in 2020.
Her legacy continues through her progeny.
