Planned Future Breedings

Planning Future Generations Through Modern Technology

 Rowdy       Bailey

French's German Shepherds and many other breeders and veterinarians use Artificial Insemination (A.I.) technology with fresh, chilled or frozen semen.  This technology is a way to improve the quality of a breed by overcoming limitations of both time and distance, also reducing the chance of injury or spread of disease and infections. Outstanding males can produce offspring long after their death. Males can be mated with females separated by thousands of miles or continents by shipping.

By collecting and freezing semen, many more females can be bred than would be physically possible through normal one-on-one mating. This is very important for prepotent male sires with a proven higher-than-average ability to pass on favorable traits to their progeny. Genes are unaltered and artificial (A.I.) allows continuation of their lineage. Frozen semen can be stored for years and breedings can occur whenever a female is selected and is in the correct time of her heat cycle for fertilization. Dams are usually impregnated artificially either through Vaginal, Surgical Implantation, or Transcervical Insemination (T.C.I.). Many breeders utilize (T.C.I.) and fresh semen as a norm of breeding dogs for the protection of both the Sire and the Dam. French's German Shepherds has frozen semen breedings from the sires below.

  Kenlyn's Aries V HiCliff  "Bailey"

Kenlyn's Aries V HiCliff " Bailey"

There are two "Icons" in the American Show Lines of the German Shepherd in the United States. One is CH (US) Kenlyn's Aries V HiCliff  ROM, OFA, aka "Bailey" and his father, the famous AOE SEL EX CH (US) Kismet's Sight For Sore Eyes, aka "Dallas." Aries is known as the "American German Shepherd Dog's Greatest Sire" whose progeny have earned more Champions and Grand Victors than any other sire. Usually when Sires are bred, it is thought that their progeny and descendants will at least be equal to the parents. When Aries was bred, his progeny often surpassed him, even when bred with marginal female Dams. Bailey is considered one of the most "Prepotent" German Shepherd Sire in American Show Lines.

When owner Randy Cliff of HiCliff Kennels of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, decided to retire, he desired to sell his remaining frozen semen breedings of Aries and donate the proceeds to the German Shepherd Dog Club of America. We then purchased and transferred a frozen breeding of Aries for our future lines. We are following Randy's advice of making sure to only use this breeding on a "Proven Dam."   Fantasy's Hot Rod V Merivern  "Rowdy"

Champion Fantasy's Hot Rod V Merivern

Champion Fantasy's Hot Rod v Merivern, "Rowdy" now deceased, was a sire with owned by Mollie Walker Livingston. Mollie is a quality breeder from Texas who has generously supported the SEAL Dog Foundation to help heal our American veterans. There is a waiting list for veterans desiring to receive dogs from the Foundation. In February 2019, Mollie graciously donated her stored frozen semen breedings from "Rowdy" that more quality dogs will be made available to our American veterans! Rowdy's hips were OFA Excellent!
